Press play is the easy part
Everyone wants the launch reel. The red button, the countdown, the champagne in a room that still smells like new carpet. That day is a costume change. The platform was won or lost in the months before, and it will be judged in the months after.
We have launched enough of these to be allergic to “go-live” as a finish line. A streamer is a weekly machine: rights in, content out, cash collected, churn explained. If that machine is not designed before you press play, you are hosting a premiere for a film you have not shot.
The unfashionable work is the stack, the P&L, the first ninety days of programming, and a team that can run a Monday without you. That is the job. The button is the easy part.
